The “Feeling” includes Adam Dabrowski’s latest paintings of powerful and evocative images. Large scale oil paintings communicate strongly with the viewer’s emotions and senses. The artist started painting after an unplanned trip to Cambodia and Thailand. A visit to the “Killing Field’s” museum and meeting with a professional artist in the region coupled with numerous other coincidences inspired him to quit his office job to start painting, which he felt he could and should do. He received instant recognition from artists and press with his second portrait being published in ‘Artists & Illustrators’ (Feb 2006/April 2007) followed by other articles in various publications. Adam’s paintings are base entirely on visions and inspired thought about man and the world he lives in. He is self-taught and his free, spontaneous style allows the painting process to unfold and dictate the end result.
‘I remain faithful to my visions and my main aim is to have fun reproducing them on canvas. My paintings go beyond established rules of composition and each project is born from discovery and instinct’. (Dabrowski 2007)

"Living Space ”
An exhibition of installation works by Christina Bryant
Private View: Friday 23rd of May from 6 pm - 11pm
Exhibition runs from: 23rd of May to 5th of June 2008
Gallery Opening Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 2.30 pm - 6.30 pm
Last day of Exhibition - 22nd of May: Open from 11 am to 5 pm!
‘Living Space’ is an exhibition that explores the nature of human spaces. Through distorted line drawings, Christina Bryant explores the nature of our relationship to the home environment. Her central piece, Living Space, looks at the ideas related to representation through a drawing. It extends out from the wall ignoring the physical boundaries of the gallery space. She alters our perception of the space and emerges the viewer directly within the drawing making them feel aware of how their own movement and positioning affects the way they see the piece. They are pushed to feel aware of being there, not just as a viewer but as an essential component to the scene’s existence. It is the viewer’s personal memories that allow it to exist as this space, yet is an image that nearly everyone reads with similar knowledge and recognition. We know home to represent safety and warmth but it is clear that the drawing itself is so far away from being warm and comforting. It is the illusion of the image instead, that holds the promise. The whole thing remains a ghostly illusion to which the empty gallery space pushes through.

"From Seeing to Showing”
An Exhibition of works by a group of young participants of the first From Seeing To Showing project, run by Zoom In
Private View & Recruiting Day: Saturday 7th of June from 2.30 pm - 6.30 pm - 11pm
Exhibition runs from: 6th of June to 12th of June 2008
Gallery Opening Hours: Fri, Sat, Mon– Wednesday: 2.30 pm - 6.30 pm
Last day of Exhibition - 12th of June: Open from 11 am to 5 pm!

This collection of photographs was produced by a committed group of young people who participated in the first From Seeing To Showing project which is part of a three-year long programme being run by Zoom In.
From Seeing To Showing is a series of four workshops that took place over the summer of 2007 with the aim of promoting to its participants the concept of Volunteering. Through photography, creative exchange and team-spirit, the project strove to provide insight and valuable skills in teaching and running workshops, whilst simultaneously giving young people a means of self-expression.
Over the course of the four workshops, 48 young participants between the ages of 10 and 20 worked alongside professional photographer Adrian Wood and a team of Zoom In volunteers. The workshops ran for two weeks with each one overlapping the previous one: during the first week the young participants gained knowledge of basic digital photography, including technical camera skills, composition techniques and digital imaging. They were also introduced to medium format photography, studio lighting, and black and white printing. In the second week they returned as volunteers to demonstrate their knowledge of photography to the next group of young participants, requiring them to use and develop their team-building and learning/training skills. The project culminated in an open day event organised and run by the
young participants which included photography demonstrations displaying the skills learnt and a public exhibition showcasing the high quality photographs taken during the project.
Through this exhibition we celebrate the hard work and acquired skills of all the young participants who made the first project such a success.
It is also an opportunity for more young people to sign up for the second From Seeing To Showing project which is will be taking place in July and August 2008. Please see the flyer for more details.
